In cases of severe acne there are chances that acne pimples even after treatment leave scars. These scars can be very disturbing to the appearance and self esteem of the person who has it.These days there are a number of treatment options available for people that encounter these scars they are as follows:
Dermabrasion:
Dermabrasion is thought to be one of the most effective treatment for acne scars. In it the damaged surface of the skin is removed using a high speed brush. The skin heals and a new skin takes its place, but dermabrasion is not effective in certain cases of acne like icepick scars also it is not effective with dark skinned people.

Microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion is a technique like dermabrasion but rather then using a high speed brush it uses aluminum oxide crystals passing through a vacuum tube to remove surface skin. This method is safer then dermabrasion as only the surface cells of the skin are removed this means that no additional wound is created. Multiple procedures are often required but scars may not be significantly improved.

Laser Treatment:
Lasers is also used to treat acne scars. The wavlength and intensity of the laser may wary after assessing the severity and depth of the acne scar. If needed the tissue may actually be removed with more powerful instruments such as the carbon dioxide laser. In some cases, a single treatment is all that will be necessary to achieve permanent results.

There are other treatment options that can be used but they are not as popular when it comes to acne scars.
