  Exercise and Acne

Exercising has been a debating topic for years, studies are being conducted to learn about effects of exercise on acne. So far, it is evident that exercising is effective for treating acne and its associated conditions. Although further research is needed to learn how exercising helps you get rid of acne, there are some fundamental benefits of exercising that really affects positively on acne as well.

Your body needs efficient supply of blood and nutrients. Cells absorb oxygen and nutrients from blood. It is only possible when blood supply is efficient towards each cell. You develop acne due to inflammation of hair follicles and sebaceous glands. Hair follicles are made up of epithelial cells that are very vulnerable to damage. Each hair follicles is surrounded with tiny blood capillaries to supply blood and nutrition. There are hundreds of factors that slows the blood flow towards hair follicles. Stiffness is the fundamental factor. Therefore, exercising regularly promotes efficient supply of blood and reduces the stiffness in tiny blood capillaries. Why unhealthy hair follicles produces acne? Unhealthy hair follicles are vulnerable to bacterial infection. Once bacterial infection occurs, it leads to acne breakouts soon.

Oxygen is required for cellular respiration that help cells break nutrients to generate energy. Your lungs can absorb only 4% to 6% of oxygen during a single inhalation. Their capacity are limited. Lungs are like balloon. You can increase their capacity by deep inhalation of air and keeping it within lungs until you need another inhalation. Doing so regularly will increase their capacity and they will absorb more oxygen then normal. When body cells get more oxygen, they will work more efficiently. For healthy hair follicles, rich supply of oxygen is necessary, that's why, smoking leaves your skin flaky and dry. Healthy hair follicles will be less prone to developing inflammation.

Hormonal fluctuation is another factor involved in acne breakouts. Exercise help regulate hormonal levels of your body. Though production of hormones are necessary for healthy growth, when their production increase, they trigger sebaceous glands to produce more sebum. Excessive production of sebum results in clogged hair follicles and acne breakouts. It is also seen that women exercising regularly experience less hormonal fluctuation during menstrual cycles.

Conclusion:
Exercising is an effective natural way of getting rid and preventing acne breakouts. It works in several ways. It promotes efficient blood flow and oxygen towards hair follicles and sebaceous glands. It also regulates hormonal level within your body as hormonal fluctuation is the biggest factor involved in acne breakouts. Women exercising regularly are less prone to develop acne.
