Acne is very common skin disorder. It attacks everyone in any age. It can be mild, moderate or severe. Topical treatment:
There are number of topical treatment available. These are creams and gels. Retinoids are very common acne treatment. It is derivative of vitamin A. retinoids work on abnormal skin cells by fixing them. Tretinoin, Adapalene and Tazarotene are common topical retinoids.
There are some topical antibiotics as well. They are less effective then oral antibiotics but many people avoid oral medications. Clindamycin, Erythromycin and tetracycline are most common topical antibiotic.
Oral Medications:
Oral medications are prescribed by dermatologist after taking many factors in consideration. Mostly topical medicines are also available in oral form as well. Like retinoids are also available in oral form commonly known as Accutane. It is a most aggressive treatment and has many minor or major side effects. It is recommended only those people in which every other treatment fails to work. Other oral medications include tetracycline, Doxycycline, erythromycin, and minocycline.
All the above treatments have major or minor side effects. If someone is going to start any of acne treatment then he/she should discuss its side effects with their doctor. Every side effect disappears after stopping the treatment. Besides their side effects they are very effective treatment.
