A new born baby is one of the cutest things in the world. All parents show off their new born as a prized possession and something to show off. In this case any deformity however trivial it might be can be very distressful for the parents. And it gets worse because people barricade them with questions regarding the problem all the time. Many newborns encounter acne outbreaks within the first two weeks of birth. People who witness these pimples on the baby tend to think that their baby might have to live with it for the rest of his/hers life. So they can be very aggressive in treating it which might not be the right approach for a baby.
Baby Acne is Complex so don't rush it:
There are many theories about baby acne that have come about, these include the hormones that a baby receive from the mother or the medications that a mother takes during pregnancy could cause baby acne. There is also a group of thought that believe that Baby acne is caused by the poor hygiene of the baby.
Steps to be taken:
When bathing and cleaning the baby you should use mild soaps for the baby. Also use mild detergents to wash the clothing of the baby so that irritation can be avoided. Using harsh detergents may cause the acne to worsen and the baby may develop rashes.
Don't let milk or food on the baby for too long and clean the face after feeding.
Patience is the Key:
After doing your bit in the prevention department you should wait for the acne to heal. Rushing into treatment can be very dangerous for the baby. Medications may prove too strong for the baby to handle. Be patient and wait for the acne to diminish in 2 to 4 weeks.
Baby acne home remedy:
Even though acne should be left alone if the baby is irritated by the acne you should use honey on the acne affected area to sooth the irritation. Don't leave it for too long though and wash the area throughly afterwards.
